CommuniQUEST: A Private, Energizing Communications Training Retreat
Our goal is to help you assess where you are and where you would like to take your practice, then work with you in designing a thoughtful process for making effective changes.
The best way to begin the process is a diagnostic practice visit. While observations from your perspective are critical, it is vitally important to gather information from the staff's point of view and observe your team first hand to truly get a well-rounded understanding of your practice.Similar to the way you work with new patients, we invest time in this diagnostic phase to gather all the information necessary to get a clear understanding of your practice.
Prior to this visit, we discuss your goals in detail and help define what you will hope to accomplish during the time we are with you and your group. Although each practice visit is unique, we always plan time for observation, feedback, planning, and learning.
The observation time will give us an opportunity to compare what we see and experience to the practice as depicted by the staff and the doctor in the worksheets they complete. Because this allows us to get a good sense of the skills and perspectives actually being employed in the practice, we are able to understand where opportunities are lost, where problems are inadvertently created, how the individuals work together, and a number of very important variables.
Feedback occurs when we debrief on what we have learned during the observation time and from the worksheets. We will be open and candid in addressing areas where skills are undeveloped or misapplied as well as where attitudes and perspectives are less than ideal. This will allow you to have a better understanding of the distance between where you are and where you wish to go.
The second day allows for planning and learning. Everyone focuses on the specific changes you wish to make as well as the strategy and timeline for making them. Why you will make changes comes first. How you will make changes is next. When you will make changes follows. We then roll up our sleeves to begin the work. We will also discuss how ongoing support and learning tools might be arranged.
Just some of the areas we would include in our working relationship would be:
- Dentist's leadership and management styles
- Staff and their skills, attitudes, alignment with the dentist and work ethic
- Team and the interpersonal dynamics within the group
- Patients and the way they are served and supported by the resources of the practice
By the end of two days, you will have accomplished a great deal and set the course for your growth and development. Call MaryBeth Head at 800-848-8326 or Sandy Roth at 877-491-8326 to discuss the consultation practice visit in more detail.
